Click me for the video. Mobile Kinja isn’t my strong point.

Hat tip to my awesome brother who turned me into a gearhead at 14.

1) I will accept that it sure sounds aggressive, and it has cool factor.

2) It doesn’t sound quite right to me. Why? Every single day I drive a 16 valve V8. The sound is intoxicating, and I don’t even have to be moving fast. Puddle around town? I’m rolling the windows down. Hit the highway? I crack the moon roof every time there’s a long enough overpass.

3) It’s still a Ferd, and I’ve never really liked their cars. Just not for me.

Keep in mind the audio was coming from a microphone right next to the exhaust. That’s not how it sounds inside the car or even any distance from it.

It probably doesn’t sound right because it’s not a typical American V8.

Mic is on the exhaust, not in cabin.

He’s talking about the flat plane crank on the Mustang.

I LOVE it but I am a Mustang fan boy who drove a very very loud( 2 chamber flowmasters and a catless xpipe) 95 Cobra daily for almost 15 years. I love how the revs just keep going on the GT350s, like the motor is pulling a billy mays “BUT WAIT THERES MORE!”

Well Im talking about more than 2 valves per cylinder. Its just doesnt sound right to me in certain cars. American Muscle especially. But at the same time, what am I even talking about? The Mustang was never Muscle....just Pony...

“Wear headphones! The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural

microphones. With headphones or earbuds on, you’ll feel like you’re actually

sitting in the driver’s seat.”

It does sound awesome, but I recently found out something about it that makes my head hurt a little. A traditional flat plane crank has only 4 throws on it and looks like a giant I4 crank. The crank in the GT350 does not. It has 8 throws each 180 degrees apart, which makes the crank heavier that it needs to be(still lighter than a cross plane though). I cant fathom why you would go so far as to make a flat plane crank, then take away some of its primary advantage of having a lighter crank that can rev faster. This was apparently done so they could have a single intake.

Don’t get me wrong, its still an amazing car, and if I had the money for a 2nd/track car, this would be way up the list, but it should be even better.
